Look book no. 01

The coat

The coat,
in good light.

Brushes, combs, and the at-home order we use on Malibu coats. #1 All Systems, edited by coat.

From the studio

Between appointments, the coat still lives somewhere.

Posh Pets is a woman-owned studio shop. We keep the tools professional groomers finish a coat with — #1 All Systems, and the Black Forest pin for doodles — and we sort them by the jacket in front of you.

Malibu light is honest. It shows a tangle that was only brushed on top. This look book is the edit we hand someone who wants to keep that light on the coat at home.

03 — Coats

Five jackets. Five tempers.

Curly

A coat that mats in secret

The shop’s doodle brush is the Black Forest pin: 27mm, made in Germany, firmer than the white pad. Part the coat. If the pins do not reach the skin, it is not brushed.

Silky

Feathers, not a project

Ears, chest, and the backs of the legs. The Ultimate Pin is the one sold for fine, fragile hair. A curly-coat slicker will break this coat. Comb until the teeth pass.

Double

The undercoat, in season

Slicker on the underjacket. Ultimate Pin to put the guard hair back. Super Rich Protein Conditioner is the one the shop names for Goldens and coats like them. Shaving does not reset the season.

Smooth

Light, and the boar brush

The Pure Boar Bristle Brush is $39.95 and it is the whole tool. Super Cleaning Shampoo when the coat needs it. No slicker, no doodle pin.

Wire

Put the snap back

The shop’s wire edit is the Victoria pin, Crisp Coat Shampoo, and Super Rich Protein so the jacket stays crisp. The metal comb finishes. Volumizing spray is the terrier finish, not a fluff.

05 — Ritual

The order, not a longer shopping list.

  1. 01

    Before water

Brush the dry coat. Find the mats while they are still honest. A wet tangle only tightens.

  2. 02

    The right tool

Curly: the Black Forest pin, then the slicker. Silky: the Ultimate Pin. Double: slicker on the underjacket only, then the Ultimate Pin. Smooth: the boar bristle. Wire: the Victoria pin.

  3. 03

    Then the bath

Shampoo a coat that is already brushed. Conditioner so the fiber stops grabbing itself. Rinse until the water is bored.

  4. 04

    The exam

Metal comb from the skin. If it snags, you are not finished. If it passes, the boar brush may make it gleam.
